The Best Family Photoshoot in St Davids – A Dream Come True

I had the best family photoshoot in St Davids, Pembrokeshire the other week. Honestly, it was a dream. The light was perfect! A mum, Amy, and her daughter, Sofia, saddled up and headed out on their horses at sunset on the Pembrokeshire coast, overlooking the rugged cliffs of St Davids… it was perfect.

TBH, this was a test shoot for my new St Davids family photography service, launching April 1st, 2025.

I’ve been photographing ONLY weddings for three years now and wanted to add a service and do something different something that embraces all my photographic loves: documentary photography, fine art, nature, adventure, and the coast, while highlighting the epic beauty of St Davids and the surrounding Pembrokeshire landscapes.

Also, having a little one myself and recently experiencing a family loss, I truly feel the importance of family and connection. Being present, exploring, and having fun with your kids is so important just as important as documenting it beautifully through natural family photography in West Wales.

Why I’m Expanding into Family Photography in St Davids

I have years of experience in photography 10+ in studio portraiture, 5+ in events and wedding photography, a degree in photography, and a master’s in documentary photography.

Lately, I’ve felt the need to mix things up. I wanted to connect with families and showcase the incredible scenery of Pembrokeshire, from the golden beaches of Whitesands Bay to the hidden coves of the St Davids Peninsula.

My wedding photography has recently become more personal and stylized, focusing on the creative and artistic side of documentary photography. This renewed love for creativity has sparked all kinds of ideas that I know will translate beautifully into the portrait space—especially in the stunning natural backdrops of St Davids and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

I also LOVE prints and photo books, so I feel something exciting is coming in that direction too.
