This area really has something for everyone, if you’re surfers, climbers or none of the above and simply just looking for some quiet time there is nothing quite like Pembrokeshire.
There are heaps of locations for engagement photography in West Wales, you are so spoilt for choice, but don’t worry I’ve got you covered! So, here are my top 5 favourite engagement locations, for photographing in Pembrokeshire.
This is my local beach, and I love it for so many reasons. So yeah, I guess I am a little biased, but it’s not just me that recognises how awesome it is, as it recently won the award for the second-best beach in the UK for its water quality. The golden sands of this beach and the views surrounding it really are stunning. It’s a hot spot for surfers and outdoor types as well as the perfect spot for couples or elopement photo shoots. Here you have so many options, when the tide is out you can capture the white beach expanse, rocks, rock pools, sand dunes, stairs and the Rams Nose, which is a perfect location for a view of the sea. Whitesands is easy to get to and there’s plenty of parking right next to the beach (great for wedding photos as no real walking is required). Though the summer months can get very busy!

If you want to get your druid on and get amongst stone circles and megalithic burial chambers, then this is the place for you, ha ha. However, if you simply want to have banging backdrops of the Irish sea and Ramsey Island in your photos then this place is perfect in the early morning light. When looking back towards the mainland you also have perfect views of the summit of Carn Llidi (realistically a mini mountain), which has huge amounts of colour in the warmer months. To get here you walk for about 20 mins from Whitesands car park. FYI it should be said that this spot is fantastic for an elopement, particularly if you fancy a walk to the top of Carn Llidi as there are friggin awesome views across St Brides Bay! Bring a flask or a bottle of bubbly.

A blue flag beach, and again voted one of the best beaches in the UK, with its wild rock formations and large stretches of sand. It’s about ½ a mile walk to a fairly secluded beach, which is amazing for those romantic sunset photos. This isolated beach also has numerous spots to have some privacy, making it a perfect place to get away from the masses in the summer months. So get ready to pack a romantic picnic and some bubbles and let’s head to Marloes.

What more could you want than a woodland walk that opens up on to a beach? This place is off the beaten track and a world away from the humdrum of city life. A silent haven for uninterrupted photos of you and your partner. This location works well in all seasons, the bluebell walk in spring is magical. In Autumn the leaves bring out so much colour and the oak, ash and hazel trees provide some great backdrops for photo shoots. The cliff tops also offer some fantastic oppurtunities for shots over the beach below and the meandering coastal path.

Tenby is bustling in the summer months from morning to night, so the best times for photo shoots tend to be around sunset or sunrise. That said there are so many parts to Tenby – from the castle to the little cobbled laneways, and views of the harbour and little islands dotted around, the list go on. Tenby’s beaches are incredible too; Castle beach, south beach, and North beach are all amazing spots. So yeah, this is the best thing about Tenby, just so many options, coastal expanse and we can capture both a little town vibe that will add vibrant local colours into your images.

As you can probably tell I love the beaches of the Pembrokeshire Coast. If, like some, you love beaches but don’t like sand then there’s always the coastal path. At the end of the day, if you want something local to your house, or to a wedding venue any part of the coastal path can create epic photos for you and your partner. There are so many amazing places for your special day. And trust me, I know them all.
Also engagement shoots are a good opportunity to get to know me. It’s also a great way to prepare yourselves for all the attention you will receive on the big day, and get used to posing for the camera. It’s also a great excuse to take time out of your busy life and spend time together, in beautiful West Wales.
