Last summer, I decided to switch things up and spend one glorious day a week riding the waves with Shaka Surf Club. (I mostly fell off, but that’s not the point)

And let me tell you, I absolutely LOVED it. Holly and Laura, the brilliant brains and instructors behind Shaka Surf, are not just amazing at what they do – they’re two of the loveliest people. So, when Holly hit me up one sunny September night and asked if I would like to capture some shots for the Shaka Surf Club I was like HELL YES!

First things first, this gig came about because I owed HOLLY a favor. Check out Exhibit A. That photo is Holly…. and as you can see she and the BF let me photograph them at the beach, and now all her family think they are married, so I owe her big time.

Now to the other reason…

I have been thinking recently about businesses and values and how to align my little business practice with my core values. And Shaka is right where my values alight.

Shaka’s mission is as follows…..

“From the very beginning, our mission has been to create an empowering, inclusive, and fun female surf community in Pembrokeshire. We believe that surfing is not just a sport, but a lifestyle that connects us with nature and ourselves. Our aim is to get more women surfing in Pembrokeshire and to provide a space where women can feel supported, encouraged, and inspired to push their limits.”

That’s exactly what they achieved, they also have classes for girls and teens. Leading a generation of women and girls into the sea to surf the shit out of it….
