Engagement Photography

Pre-wedding photography, engagement photography or a couple shoot whatever ya wanna call it, it’s all the same thing: a photoshoot with a ME, your go to photographer to capture your little love story. If you’re reading this, you’re most likely already engaged, and wondering why you need engagement photography.

Contrary to popular belief, it’s not just about capturing the moment of proposal. There are bloody HEAPS of reasons why having a pre-wedding photoshoot is a great idea, which if you have the time, I recommend adding it to your package.

Engagement photography can be a great way to start a relationship with a photographer, which all begins with a free Zoom consultation so we can get to know each other a little.

That’s me, and I get to know you! Having shared a Free Zoom consultation, but during the engagement photography session, we’ll get to know each other. After this time together, having me at the wedding will be like having a friend there.

You’ll experience firsthand my relaxed and encouraging style, and see that you’ll be so comfortable in front of the camera on the big day, removing any worries you might have.

Why is Engagement Photography Important?

An engagement photography session is a great opportunity to practice being photographed. It’s unlikely you’ve spent a lot of time with a camera pointing at you, so it’s perfectly understandable that you’d be nervous getting started! With this practice session, you’ll understand that there’s nothing to fear, and OMG you will even enjoy yourself!

Make Your Wedding Photoshoot More Efficient

Ask Lots of Questions

If you can’t decide whether you want to have your wedding closer to the beach, forest or city for your portraits, you can do one of them for your engagement photoshoot! Choosing a location that is important to your relationship is a great idea, especially if it’s not a suitable location for a wedding. Think outside the box to capture something that matters to you as a couple!

Combining your engagement photography with a test run of your hair and makeup is a great idea! You’ll be able to make sure you look exactly how you imagine in your wedding photos, and make sure you’ve got it right to the final details. This will help you feel supper chilled on the day, knowing that’s one thing you don’t have to worry about.

The time together during the engagement photography session will allow you plenty of opportunity to pick my brain about the wedding photography itself. Come prepared with as many questions you like and benefit from my years of experience, finding out more about what the big day will be like.

From the results of the engagement photography session, I'll be able to understand even more about what you feel comfortable with, I can tell what poses - or lack of poses - that you prefer. I’m a big fan of non-posed couple photos and am more likely to give gentle suggestions on actions or movements that I know always look really great.

When you go check out your engagement photography, you can highlight any particular things you like or dislike about the locations, movements or personal preferences.

It’ll also help you to understand my instructions on the big day when you might be overwhelmed by the excitement of it all. You’ll already have practiced the motions before so it'll be super natural.

Knowing that you’ll get the results you want from your wedding photos will help you relax in the lead up to the event itself.

Use the Banging Photos How You Like

Celebrate Your Engagement

Provide Feedback on the Photos

Having a collection of couple photos is super useful in the lead-up to a wedding - you can use them as part of the wedding invites or save the dates, or hand them out to guests at the wedding so they already have something to commemorate the nuptials without having to wait for the wedding photos. Couples also love using the photos in a guest book at the wedding for your guests to sign, or blowing up a big one to use as wedding decor.

You're engaged and you found the love of your life: that’s epic, and it needs to be captured and celebrated! The time between the proposal and the wedding is a major point of a relationship that is worth remembering, where we can pay close attention to the gorgeous rings and the daily interactions that caused you to fall in love in the first place.

The wedding dresses and suits are going to look incredible on the big day, that’s a certainty. Wearing something that makes you feel confident and comfortable is perfect for your engagement shoot, allowing love to be the focus - how you interact with each other, and those natural expressions of affection.

As one of the main purposes of engagement photography is to make you as comfortable as possible in front of the camera, it helps to wear something that enhances that feeling. Alternatively, if you have another fabulous item of clothing that’s begging to be in front of the camera, now's the time to wear it!
